All about Scruffy Rat

Scruffy Rat is a small independent laser engraving business creating distinctive, personalised products and gifts. From one-off designs to small business orders, we combine creativity with precision engraving to turn ideas into something a little bit special.

At the heart of our workshop is a professional Cloudray 50W fibre laser, powered by a Raycus laser source. This precision machine allows us to produce incredibly fine detail, crisp lettering and intricate designs on a wide range of metals, including stainless steel, titanium and anodised aluminium.

Fibre laser technology gives us exceptional control over the finished result. By carefully adjusting the laser for different materials, we can create everything from fine detailed markings to deep, permanent engraving. We also use different lenses depending on the size and detail of the job, allowing us to tackle both small intricate pieces and larger designs.

What Can We Engrave?

We work with a wide variety of materials and products, including natural slate, stainless steel, titanium and anodised aluminium.

Our range includes engraved slate coasters and signs, personalised gifts, hip flasks, outdoor and hiking accessories, ICE tags, metal business cards and much more. We also love taking on bespoke projects, so if you have an idea that's a little different, just ask.

One of the things we enjoy most at Scruffy Rat is creating something that isn't available off the shelf.

Names, dates, messages, logos and custom artwork can all be incorporated into a design. Whether it's a personalised gift for one person or a batch of branded products for a business, we'll work with you to create something that suits what you have in mind.

From an Idea to the Finished Product

Every project starts with an idea. We prepare the artwork specifically for laser engraving and carefully select the settings needed for the particular material before producing the finished piece.

Because we do the engraving ourselves, we can pay attention to the little details and make adjustments when necessary rather than simply sending an order somewhere else to be manufactured.
